Engineering is Elementary

The Science Museum offers effective engineering curriculum training for your classroom.

Immersion Residencies

Take place in your classroom, requiring just six to eight hours over two weeks. Our high-quality instructors do all the planning, model effective techniques in your classroom, and offer you tips and ideas.

Teacher Professional Development

Increase your confidence in engineering and technology instruction in our teacher-focused workshops. Choose from an introduction workshop, or a more in-depth, unit-specific training session.

Family Events

As a wrap-up to a residency or stand-alone event, you can host an engineering family event at your school. Everone brings their inner engineer to life by experimenting with materials and designing solutions to engineering challenges.

Engineering is Elementary is a research-driven, academic standards-based curriculum and professional development for educators. It is designed to integrate science and technology concepts with elementary school engineering lessons. Teachers gain effective teaching techniques and students make important learning connections.

“I picked up so many great strategies. The students became more excited each day. They worked collaboratively and realized that they might want to pursue a career in engineering.”

-Julie B., Minnesota Elementary School Teacher

Engineering is Elementary was developed by the Museum of Science, Boston. Over the past six years, the Science Museum of Minnesota has trained over 600 teachers to implement engineering programs in more than 70 schools in the Upper Midwest.
