Solids, Liquids, and Gases K-2

About this Experience

What makes popcorn different from rubber worms? Students explore how we use physical properties to describe objects and to distinguish between solids and liquids. Heating and cooling can change these properties and make for some exciting observations!

PROGRAM OPTIONSSolids, Liquids, and Gases K-2 is available only as a large group assembly.

ASSEMBLY MAX: 150 students

DUARTION: 40 minutes (all K-2 assemblies)

Learning Goals
  • Scientists use observations to classify objects and materials.
  • Objects can be described by their physical properites and by the materials they are made of.
  • Objects may be made up of smaller pieces that can be rearranged in different ways.
