It’s almost Mental Health Awareness Week! From October 7-13, you can join nationwide efforts to bring education and change around a topic that touches so many of our lives.

Here at the Science Museum, we are more aware than ever of mental illness’ reach - and just how critical it is to end the stigma - thanks to our Mental Health: Mind Matters exhibit. In this interactive exhibition, you can watch powerful accounts from real people living with mental illness, play a quiz about common mental health misconceptions, and destroy your worries in a worry shredder. The experience is designed to facilitate conversation, foster understanding, and make way for healing.

Feeling inspired? Ready to get involved?  So are we. That’s why we are excited to welcome our partners from Minnesota chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) next week for some powerful discussions and education opportunities. On Sunday, October 14, join us for workshops with NAMI Minnesota on critical topics such as suicide prevention, achieving recovery, and creating a caring community.  You’ll leave ready to make an impact. It's easy to register - just click on the links!

These events are free, community focused, and an amazing way to enact change in your immediate surroundings. Don’t miss these opportunities to help raise awareness and end the stigma.

And be sure to keep an eye on our social media channels next week! We’ll be sharing some of the powerful comments our visitors have been leaving about their own journeys with mental illness in the comment book at the end of the Mind Matters exhibit. It’s personal connections like these that remind us why mental health is so worth speaking up for.
