You Will Thank Them

Mayo Clinic gastroenterologist David Ahlquist, M.D., worked with Exact Sciences to create a patient-friendly colorectal cancer screening test. They wanted to solve the biggest problem in early stage colon cancer detection, people’s unwillingness or inability to undergo an invasive colonoscopy. Cologuard uses DNA technology to detect cancerous or precancerous cells and is done at home and requires no preparation or diet change. Detection rates are equal to that of a traditional colonoscopy and makes life easier for people needing screening for this preventable and treatable form of cancer.

More Minnovations

Minnovation, presented by Mayo Clinic, is the Science Museum of Minnesota’s celebration of powerful innovation in Science, Engineering, Technology, and Math that happens right here in the North Star State.

Support Minnovation

We envision a world in which all people have the power to use science to make their lives better.
