See the Sound

About this Experience

Students will directly observe the relationship of vibrations and sound through senses other than hearing. Students will explore ways of changing vibrations and ways of noticing their effects. We will finish by talking about ways of noticing patterns in vibrations.

Minimum/Maximum class size: 16/32 students

Learning Goals
  • Sound is produced by vibrating objects.
  • Changing an object’s properties, such as size or speed of vibration affects pitch.
  • Sound can be observed through senses other than hearing (sight, touch).
  • Vibrations can make different patterns of motion.
