Big Weather Experience

January 17 - March 22, 2017

Weather’s a hot topic of conversation in Minnesota, and it’s an important topic in our classrooms, too.

Bring the science of weather to life for your students: book your Big Weather Experience today! A carefully-crafted field trip package that covers all the weather bases, Big Weather Experience includes the Tornado Alley Omnitheater film, hands-on weather exhibits, and Storms on Stage, a presentation from our Science Live team that gets your students involved in the key weather science concepts in an unforgettable way.

Ideal for grades three through eight.

Watch Tornado Alley in the Omnitheater
An amazing film that takes you inside a tornado with the team from the hit Discovery Channel TV show, Storm Chasers, and travels along with the VORTEX 2 research team as they collect data that can save lives in the path of storms. View the Trailer

See Storms on Stage in the Auditorium
Free with your fall field trip, Storms on Stage is an interactive Science Live theater program that demonstrates the scientific principles involved in the formation of a storm cloud, lightning, thunder and other weather phenomena.

Visit the museum’s weather exhibits
Students will experiment with a one-story-tall tornado model, observe warm and cold air fronts colliding, investigate high and low pressure computer models, and more through self-directed, exhibit hall learning experiences.
