Warner Corner

The bunkhouse is dilapidated. A lost cause. It is also my mother's favorite building. When it was first built, the children of the owners of our cabin would sleep in this building; however, since we have owned it no one has slept in it. Until this summer. A bird chose to make a nest in the building. In the past we have had Eastern phoebes build nests on the building but this time the nest took up the entire building and was built by the biggest songbird in North America, the turkey vulture. Meet Our Animals

Warner Nature Center has 13 captive animals that help us educate people about the natural world. All of our animals are in captivity because they are no longer able to survive in the wild. Some of them are injured, like our Barred Owl who is blind in her left eye, while others, like the Spiny Softshell turtle, were formally pets and no longer have the skills to be competitive with their wild counterparts. Research

The Lee and Rose Warner Nature Center is proud of our tradition of science-based learning. As part of our mission and history we seek to use our site for research so visitors can have the opportunity to learn about scientists and our staff can learn more about the site we teach on. Learn More
