Bear CubsMany Bear Cubs who come out to Warner like to work on Achievement #5, Sharing your World with Wildlife. This program is approximately two hours in length. Participants arrive at the nature center and enjoy a visit from a live bird of prey. We have a barred owl, a red-tailed hawk and an American kestrel. This unforgettable experience includes background information on the bird, a talk about endangered and threatened species as well as plenty of time for questions. After the raptor presentation the group heads out to explore the trails. Your naturalist will point out seasonally relevant points of interest along the way and discuss what a wildlife conservation officer does. To complete the requirements for this achievement, your scouts must make a poster of an animal to show to the group. We often suggest groups pick one of the many raptors in the world as their animal. If scouts choose to do their posters beforehand they can present them to each other while at Warner. Another option is to use our raptor program as a springboard to get your bear cubs excited about doing their posters. Our staff is adaptable to whichever you prefer. These programs are set up on a custom basis. If your den has fewer than 15 kids you pay a flat rate of $90 for this program. Groups over 15 in number pay just $6 per child. Bear Cubs are also encouraged to try one of the following programs: Contact our Outreach Coordinator Kirk Mona at or (651) 433-2427 ext. 13 for more information or to book a program. |
