Disease Detectives

Disease Detectives is a new traveling science museum exhibition that puts visitors in the role of infectious disease—fighting detectives. This immersive exhibition invites visitors to investigate a case by meeting the patient through an interactive mannequin, interpreting their lab tests and exploring an environment to learn more about infectious disease transmission and prevention.

Each case highlights a different mode of disease transmission and the relevant illnesses. Larger than life 3D microbe sculptures invite visitors to touch, explore and learn more about the disease. A historical timeline illustrates the emergence and re-emergence of diseases over time. The microbe dance introduces players to the different types of disease causing microbes. Disease Detective biographies throughout the exhibition introduce museum visitors to different infectious disease fighting careers.

This exhibition is made possible by a Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA) award from the National Center for Research Resources a component of the National Institutes of Health.
