Cabaret Mechanical Theatre is an exhibition containing 20 amazing, amusing mechanical sculptures that combine art and science. The sculptures, called automata, are brought to life by tiny cranks, pulleys and gears. Cabaret Mechanical Theatre celebrates the essence of tinkering with whimsy and humor.

In 1979, Sue Jackson opened a shop called Cabaret in Falmouth, a small town in the southwestern corner of England. She began displaying mechanical toys, or automata. Eventually, she turned the shop into a gallery and renamed it Cabaret Mechanical Theatre.

The gallery closed in 2000. Today, Cabaret Mechanical Theatre tours its collection to museums around the world.
