Classroom SCRATCH accounts and how to protect them

In tonight's meeting we talked about how I had created classroom accounts for the teachers so that the kids could all post to one place and a teacher could link to the classroom SCRATCH site from their classroom web page.  Some of the tricks that I used are to have a classroom login name...I usually use the last name and the word class, for example schroederclass and then I give a password, usually the school name.  This way the kids all upload and share their projects to the same account so the teacher can have all the classroom projects in one place.  This can be a bit dangero

Capture your scratch project in quicktime

When my students created their animated Xmas greeting cards, they wanted to share via e-mail. This would only work if the person on the other end either had Scratch, or would take  the time to download  to watch their project.  Molly told me about www.Screencast-o-matic.com.
This site actually does a screen capture of your project and makes it a quick time format.  You can either send a link with this, or download the quicktime to share with others.

Directions for downloading and uploading software and projects

Here is a cheat sheet I made for kids and parents to download software and directions on how to upload and download projects on the web.

Vocab Cards for SCRATCH

Here are some vocab cards I made for SCRATCH

Motorola Opens $5 Million PreK-12 STEM Grant Program

The Motorola Foundation
this week kicked off its Innovation Generation Grants program for 2009.
The funding is aimed at supporting programs for preK-12 students
designed to spur interest in science, technology, engineering, and
math--including after-school programs, science and math clubs, and
other initiatives.

Keith- I couldn't figure out how to add this to the google webpage you made with other grant opportunities?

TIES Conference Anyone?

I noticed Keith and Karen are presenting at the TIES conference in December so I'm curious to know if anyone else is attending.   Might you be interested in joining beforehand for coffee somewhere nearby to chat and catch up?

Keith Please HELP!

EVERYtime I attempt to login (on my laptop)- I get an error message that my user name is not recognized!  To get in, I'm hitting the link to request new password and then opening it up through the email link and resetting the password.  If you are the admin for the site can you look into this.  I'm going to try logging in on a different computer to see what happens and I'll keep you posted on the results of that.  Thanks SO much for your help!
