Observation

Molly came for her observation time on Thursday. It was a hectic day with students coming and going but I think we were able to share some of the projects my 8th grade students were proud of.
We have been working on a holiday animated greeting card. I have found that the students that work outside of class time have really put in the time and have created wonderful projects.  Our school server was super bogged down and slow, so I was unable to upload some samples, but I will definately do so as soon as I can.  They are very creative, and it is interesting to see the very different ways the kids write their scripts to "make things happen".  Some are changing backgrounds to make their sprites appear to be moving, instead of making a script for that sprite. It is very interesting to see how the different thought processes from each student of how to use the program in very different ways.  The great thing about this is there is no right or wrong way to do things just "another way" to do it.  So differeint learning styles can attack the same project and come up with their own process in how to make it happen.

One thing I wish I could do is create some sort of sample DVD with all the kids projects --perhaps make a Quick Time or something so that if we want to share on another computer that doesn't  have Scratch downloaded it would be possible to just stick the DVD in and show them? Does anyone know if this would be possible?  My students also wanted to share via e-mail  their animated greeting cards, but if the receiver doesn't have scratch, that won't work ... so again if there was a way to capture it in a movie format to share that way?
