Our new blog look...

Hello all, Molly noticed the new look of our blog. The system we use to make the blog uses themes, and something happened to that theme recently that made it so we couldn't see the blogs. So we have an interim theme. The blog should work just fine - let me know if you have any problems.

An update on TIES presentation and another Scratch window into scratch projects

Hi all - I've posted the slides I made for the TIES presentation I made with Karen Randall who teaches at Expo Elementary and Evelyn Eastmond. Evelyn is from the Scratch development team. She is in charge of coordinating all of the Scratch translation of the Application, the Scratch website and the support materials. ( currently at 42 languages!)

Our presentation was to talk about the background of the translation effort and the opportunities there are for global collaboration through Scratch.

Opinons on the current site

Hi all it looks like we can go back to our old theme on the website...
I'm wondering if you have opinions whether or not you'd like to go back or continue to use this website theme - we will be sharing the site with our funders for an upcoming meeting - to show the thoughts, ideas, questions and resources that you've been posting to the site - and I want to be sure that if you'd like it to stay as is that you let me know to keep it as it is before I show your work to others...

Getting music into your Scratch project

Hi Amy,
I'm attaching some images I made for you to look at about the music importing.
First here is a screen shot of importing music in Scratch. ( Below this picture are others that show details of iTunes, and where iTunes stores music on a Mac and PC.

The biggest issue is that you'll need to make sure if you use iTunes that the music is in the .mp3 format. iTunes has preferences that you set when you import a song from a CD- it turns it into the .mp3 format (or keeps it in that format if you download it) just scroll down to see images of iTunes preferences

Picoboard and Scratch dropin

Thank you for coming over to the Science House last evening. We hope this gave you a chance to play with the Picoboards a bit more and meet other teachers interested in Scratch. The folks who run the Science House were very happy to see you all. ( and if you or you district have a membership, remember that you can access the materials and resources to check out M-F)

We talked about a couple things with the Picoboard:

Scratch for Educators

I've requested that our TxT teachers be able to participate in the beta testing of the Scratch-Ed web site for educators. The site is here  http://scratch-ed.org/
I'm not sure if

A Technology Grant List:

I made a web page on funding sources for teachers.
- you can send me links that you find and I'll add them here.
The Best Buy Teach deadline is coming up. This might be just right for you to create a proposal for.

( I'm using something called Google Notebook to collect and annotate these links)

English / Spanish board game project

This is the project I made in the last workshop that showed English or Spanish text depending on which button was pushed. It's buggy still, so download ( see the Learn more about this project text below the project?) it and tinker with it to get it to stop one language script when another is started.

Test Scratch project embed

We discussed how to embed Scratch projects into pages on websites.
