On January, I observed Lyne's class when she brought them down to the computer lab. She introduced the Pico boards to her second grade students that day. First she demonstrated the slider, the sound sensor, the light sensor, and then the alligator clips. After her demonstration on how the pico board works, she paired her students. The task for the pair is to open up Scratch, set up the pico board to make the sprite change color through exploration with the alligator clips (this is to prepare them for their Insect Project). As I was walking around observing what st
So finally after identifying the students and figuring out schedules my SEM group is up and running. I'm working with 4 boys (3 six graders and 1 fourth grader). We meet for 50 minutes every Monday. Of the four boys, three have had some exposure to Scratch and my 4th grader is new to Scratch.
We meet for the first time last week, went over expectations and then they started animating their name. This was to get the 3 boys back into Scratch and opportunity to have the 4th grader explore.
Wilson's class have been studying animal tracks. They have learned that by following an animal's tracks, it leads to their source of food or shelter. Ms. Wilson wanted the students to create a project to demonstrate this understanding of animal tracks. See attached file for detailed lesson plan. We've completed session one and two. I will post a final student project when we're done.
Thank you! Thank you Keith for visiting Galtier on Dec. 10th. We had 10 teachers who showed up to learn more about Scratch. Keith did a great job at simplifying Scratch and Pico Boards for the teachers and many have expressed interest in looking forward to exploring Scratch more on their own as well as working on future projects in the lab with me. Again, a big THANKS!
As I was reading everyone's blog about their project(s), I'm feeling so behind. I've been so busy trying to get classrooms and the lab up and running this school year that I haven't had much time to do anything else. Being part-time this school year does not help either.
