The aortic
semilunar valve is located between the left
ventricle and the aorta.
The aortic
semilunar valve also has three flaps (cusps). Once the
left ventricle contracts the aortic valve is
opened, allowing the oxygenated blood to pour into the
aorta. Like the other semilunar valve, the aortic valve only
allows the blood to flow in one direction.
