This site, sponsored by IBM, is an important component of The Sound Project,
a collaboration between the Minnesota Orchestral Association and the Science
Museum of Minnesota. It was created with the assistance and input of elementary
school classes at the Franklin Music Magnet and the Linwood A+ elementary
schools in Saint Paul and the Armitage and Barton elementary schools in Minneapolis.
The Sound Project--funded by the Katherine B. Andersen Fund of The Saint Paul
Foundation,
AT&T,
Honeywell,
IBM, the Knight Foundation, Leonard
Street & Deinard and the
National
Endowment for the Arts-- features an original composition for orchestra,
actor, and young audience by composer Libby Larsen and poet John Coy to be performed
by the Minnesota Orchestra in March, 1999.
