From Engagement to Understanding: Student-Centered Teaching for K-8 Specialists

Participant Eligibility: K-8 science, technology, engineering, and/or math (STEM) specialists (teachers with from 1 to 5 years teaching experience encouraged!)
Selection Criteria: Preference will be given to teachers applying as teams from the same building and teachers who are serving in full-time positions. Please call to determine applicability to your curriculum outside of this grade range.

Move from surviving to thriving in your classroom! This institute is designed to help teachers develop more effective tools for STEM teaching including an understanding of subject matter integration, inquiry, nature of science, links to algebra readiness, culturally relevant curriculum, better understanding of student needs and more. Develop a network of STEM educators and museum professionals, which will include optional follow-up sessions at Science House during the school year.

There is no charge for this institute. Lunch, parking, one-year membership to Science House: A Resource Center for Educators, and additional materials are included. Institute participation will be limited to 25 people. Stipend or graduate credit options available.
