Summer 2009 Institutes

teachers talking at Science HouseEach of these institutes encompasses 30 hours of professional development, and includes lunch, parking, additional materials, and a one-year membership to Science House: A Resource Center for Educators at no charge. Participation is limited to 25 people per institute. Participants may select either stipend or graduate credit. Costs for these institutes are generously supported by the State of Minnesota.

MUSE Summer Institutes for School Teams and Individuals
MUSE in Minnesota: Materials and Understanding for STEM Education is a statewide initiative funded by the Minnesota State Legislature to improve STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) teaching and learning.

Would you like an institute for only your building or district staff, customized for your context? Schools and districts that have not previously worked with us are invited to apply for a scholarship for an institute for your staff held on the following dates:

MUSE in Minnesota: Opportunities for K-12 Teachers

If you and a team of teachers from your publicly funded school or district are interested in working together on examining and improving your teaching practice with respect to:

  • 8th grade algebra readiness and science and math integration
  • cultural competence, diverse student populations, and the achievement gap
  • formative assessment and student learning
