Planning a Field Trip
Before making a reservation
- Gather information about your options by visiting the following pages on our website:
- Secure your reservations by calling (651) 221-9444 or (800) 221-9444 (at the prompt, choose option #1).
Before your field trip
- You will receive detailed information by mail. It will include a confirmation letter, School Group Leader Check-in Sheet, directions to the museum, a bus parking map, a museum map, and instructions. Review the confirmation letter to ensure its accuracy, and call (651) 221-9444 if you have any questions.
- Visit the museum before your trip, if possible. Call (651) 221-9444 or (800) 221-9444 to make a reservation. Your preview visit is free, except for a $3 reservation fee, and can include the Omnitheater film (if space is available; excludes Omnifest). Please be prepared to show your school identity badge or union card when you pick up your pass at the museum. Administrative and support staff are also encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.
- At least two weeks prior to your visit, call Reservations with the number of students qualifying for the museum membership rate and any changes to the number of reservations.
When you arrive at the museum
- Enter the museum at the Education Entrance bus drop-off; a museum representative will meet you.
- Present one check or credit card for payment at the School Box Office, based on your number of confirmed reservations. No refunds are given less that two weeks prior to your visit. If fewer students actually visit the museum than the number of reservations, vouchers will be issued, redeemable by June 2011.
Inside the museum
- Visit the exhibits, Omnitheater, and the Theatre and Demonstration programs, following the visit plan you created with the reservationist. Have lunch in the space you reserved.
At the end of your visit
- Gather your group and meet your bus on level two at the Education Entrance.
