Omnitheater Films
Nothing compares with the memorable thrill of a larger-than-life Omnitheater movie. Our 2009-2010 field trip films are:
Titanica
Through January 4, 2010
The classic Omnitheater film, Titanica, provides important context for your students when combined with their visit to the Titanic exhibition.
Transporting viewers to the site of the famous shipwreck at the bottom of the North Atlantic, Titanica puts you aboard a research submersible, with close-up IMAX images of the haunting wreckage, while introducing the fascinating scientists and their research at the recovery site in the deep sea. The images of what remains of Titanic today are juxtaposed with archival photographs of the ship in all her splendor and the personal story of passenger Eva Hart who, as a girl, survived the disaster but lost her father. Arabia
Opens March 12, 2010
Take your students to Arabia, a new film about the extraordinary culture, science, history, and religion of Arabia, both past and present. They will discover a lost city and explore its ancient tombs; travel with a camel caravan along the early frankincense trade route; explore coral reefs and ancient shipwrecks beneath the Red Sea; and experience the Hajj.
The film traces the three Golden Ages of Arabia: The ancient Nabataean culture, a powerful economic and cultural force for almost four centuries; the Time of Islamic Science, so vibrant with scientific discovery and innovation that it lit up three continents for over 500 years and formed the basis of contemporary inventions, thought processes, and scientific ideas; and finally, Contemporary Arabia, an age of respect for the past as Arabia looks to a future of enlightenment, education, new freedoms, and development.
The film bridges cultures by raising awareness and knowledge of the Arabian history, science, religion, and culture. Learn More | View the Trailer
