Visit the Science Museum with your preschool-age children between 9:30 a.m. - Noon on Mondays, and take part in a special promotion that will keep little hands busy and little minds buzzing!

PlaydatesWith no cost for children under 5, (and regular admission rates for adults) you'll receive:

  • Admission to the Science Museum's exhibit galleries, packed with hands-on fun.
  • Make & Take creations: Your child will use their imagination to engineer a project we have developed especially for them!
  • Special theater programs and demonstrations designed just for preschoolers.
  • Parent's guide to preschool activities and accommodations throughout the museum, including an introduction to our Collectors' Corner trading post.
  • Discounts in the museum store, restaurants and much more!

Minnesota Children's Museum members receive the member discount. Please note that this package price does not combine with other offers or discounts; if you'd like to attend an Omnitheater film, you can add one for a small fee.

Playdates Schedule

9:30 a.m. - Noon Explore our exhibits
9:30 a.m. - Noon Check out the items on our Playdates Museum Treasure Hunt. Afterwards, head to the Collections Gallery where your little one can choose a treasure of their very own, whether it is a delicate shell or a pretty rock. Your child can bring in a collection of their own, open an account to trade their treasures, and earn points for the future!
10:00 a.m. - Noon Create a project at the Activity Station. Exciting creations your child will love designing and bringing home with them to show everyone what they invented.
10:00 a.m. - Noon Light Play: Experiment with light and shadows and investigate the properties of light and the different shapes and sizes certain objects produce. This is being offered in the Light Gallery on the third level.
10:30 a.m. Science Live Puppets and Plays. Watch special theater programs and demonstrations designed especially for younger children that will educate and entertain them. Pick up a schedule at the box office for other performances throughout the day.
11:30 a.m. Storytime with a Ranger in the Mississippi River Visitor's Center, located in the museum's lobby. Listen as tales of nature leap off the pages of a book read by a real park ranger. (Please check with the Center for activities available to your child throughout the morning.)
