Thomas Baker, a former tailor from Holland, was arrested for smuggling and jailed on the prison ship the Marianne. When Captain Bellamy captured the Marianne in October of 1716, Baker was welcomed on board the Whydah as a member of her pirate crew.
Baker was not on board the Whydah during the storm that sank her. He survived long enough to be tried and executed in Boston for acts of piracy.
