Desperately seeking partners
Ok, desperate is too strong of a word, but it is time to be seeking potential partners for the potential IMLS grant due February 1. Spent a lot of this morning thinking about what participation would require, what the grant could pay for, how many locations would need to be involved, the best ways to contact potential partners. I hate sending info to emails blindly, but where we don't have a personal contact it may make more sense to do it that way and follow up with a telephone call. I have a draft "Call for Partners" document now that will be edited and then used as a basis for conversations. I need to do a similar document for potential advisers that will, again, be used as a basis for conversations. I sent the team draft letters to Yasmin and Eric inviting them to Minneapolis toward the end of October, early November. I hope to send those out by the end of the week -- same dilemma with how to contact. I think I"ll send email and snail mail to both, just to cover all bases.
Jane suggested looking for libraries that have done research on the library as a location for informal learning. The closest I could see quickly is the information literacy parallel at academic libraries, though I will use LIbrary Lit to see what I can come up with.
Keith has done two sets of workshops now; we've made some revisions in how the class is conducted. So this will continue to be an iterative process. Next on the larger agenda is Kirsten's presentation as well as drafting an evaluation instrument based on the 21st century skills. Next meeting will likely be Sept. 5.
