High Fashion Low Voltge

Day 2 of High Fashion particpants saw examples of building the Lilypad into garments, programing multiple petals to control lights, fading from the pb petals and programing a light sensor. Now that everyone has their own materials and spools of conductive thread the projects are beginging to ferment.
This fall we are collaborating with the Textile Center to offer High Fashion Low Voltage. Seven women signed up with SMM after seeing it the Textile Center fall catalog. The students come from a range textile arts backgrounds including sewing, tapestry, weaving and professional clothing design. Clement Shimizu's assistance was invaluable. After much trial and error and switching out Lilypads, cords and breakout boards everyone was up and running. Lighting up the first bright white LED was a epiphany for all. Students changed the timing and sequence of the blink. Some explored multiple lights off one petal. Conductive thread and fabrics were passed around . Inquiry was done substituting the conductive fabric and thread for alligator clip connectors. Everyone left excited to return next week to get their own computers up and running with the Arduino Lilypad. Stay tuned for programing multiple petals, fade, and light sensors.
