We have a great group of 5 teachers now participating in our project and they're beginning to reflect on their ideas, practice, and our conversations about technology in the classroom.
I talked with Asia this morning about our Tuesday night cricket workshop - how it seemed that part of the issue in being a learner really was to get at overcoming the fear of trying something new, something unfamiliar, and that goes for us as we are building new programs, working with new partners, or looking at the new new...
One of the teachers reflected on this in the project blog - that they know they have so much to learn - that they need to let go of the worry about knowing it all --I know this is something that we've learned about working with the Library systems as well (and the tech support in schools) that often staff feel they need to know everything about a new tool or resource, - to feel (expert?) proficiency before they'll support its use - because they may be asked to help with this new tool and may not have the answers...
- Its interesting - last night we all agreed that the kid /students easily become very fluent with Scratch and that perhaps that may be a very good thing - they can then teach and mentor - we see this starting to work in the libraries and it seems that with past experiences it seems that it can work in schools...
So it was a very good discussion during the workshop, and it seems that by having those kind of discussions we're moving toward developing how we can think about how we build our communities...
