About LTC
The Learning Technologies Center supports learning through creative and meaningful applications of digital technologies. Classes and workshops allow learners to be creative designers; using technologies that include miniature computers, motors, sensors, animation and game-making software, and digital media tools. LTC also develops web tools that help students and teachers reflect on their learning.
In order to fulfill our mission, we are working on the following strategies:
- Model uses of computer technologies that encourage rather than replace direct interaction with the physical world and other human beings.
- Make in-depth learning opportunities available to young people who could benefit most from access to these environments.
- Develop on- and off-line materials and experiences that spark young people's interest and enable each as individuals to make personal connections to science.
- Partner with museum program developers and other inspired educators to determine if, when, and how new technologies can further their work.
- Create and support forums for discussing and critically analyzing the uses of learning technologies.
