#2007-824 YSC CREW-FLUID POWER, Youth Science Center. Youth Employment Opportunity. Occasional/Non-Exempt Start work End of May. (5-12 hrs/wk., after school, summer and Saturdays. Must be able to work Wednesdays, 3:30-6 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and make a minimum of 9 month commitment.) Responsibilities: The Science Museum of Minnesota is recruiting high school students to work as KAYSC Crew members for the Compact Fluid Power project. The KAYSC Fluid Team will explore the field of mechanical engineering by visiting research labs, interviewing engineers and designing projects, in order to create activities and an exhibit about fluid power: using fluid (air, water, etc.) in applications such as hybrid cars and robotics. KAYSC Fluid Team will use these activities to present/teach mechanical engineering concepts to museum visitors and children at sites in the community. Requirements: Entering Sophomore, Junior or Senior year in high school. Previous experience, either paid or volunteer, in museum youth programs or Kitty Andersen Youth Science Center partners is helpful. No science or engineering experience is necessary, but a desire to learn, try new things and work with others is essential. Responsible, punctual, able to follow directions, able to work well with people of all ages, flexible, and enthusiastic about working at the museum and with children. Pay rate: $6.25/hr. Occasional/Non-Exempt Responsibilities: The Science Museum of Minnesota is recruiting high school students to work as KAYSC Crew members on the Mentor Buzz project. Learn, prepare, and teach activities at museum and community partner sites. Lead them through example of learning, asking questions, and engaging in activities. Lead team-building sessions and keep a written journal. Gather and maintain necessary materials. Requirements: Entering Sophomore, Junior or Senior year in high school. Previous experience, either paid or volunteer, in museum youth programs or Kitty Andersen Youth Science Center partners is helpful. No science or engineering experience is necessary, but a desire to learn, try new things and work with others is essential.
