Position Description: Assist the Prospect Research Director with performing research on-line as well as with proprietary databases. Data entry of research materials. The summer 2011 Public Relations intern will gain insight into the role of public relations and communications in a non-profit setting. Responsibilities: Projects will include assisting with photo shoots and live television shots, writing press releases and communications pieces, assisting with media mailings, building and managing media lists, tracking and measuring news coverage, brainstorming and helping execute ongoing public relations strategies, assisting with events, and more. Strong organizational skills. #1011-3002-2 KAYSC INTERN, Science Learning Division - Kitty Andersen Youth Science Center (KAYSC). 10-15 hours per week (4-6 hours between 10am and 6pm, Tues-Sat during academic school year, M-Sat during summer months). Responsibilities: The KAYSC Intern will work with a crew manager to promote the healthy development of youth leaders by involving youth in science, technology, engineering and math learning and providing them with opportunities to contribute their knowledge to others. Additionally, help youth plan for life after high school (e.g. academic and career exploration, workforce readiness, college planning, etc.). Collaborate with the writer and photographer to accurately and comprehensively capture all volunteer oral histories and photographic images by the end of the summer of 2011. Work within a team setting to develop the Oral History project that captures the longstanding history of Museum veteran volunteers. Collaborate with the lead editor and photographer on scheduling interviews. Coordinate with other departments for additional programming ideas, resources and ideas for addressing program's relevancy to project's goals. Responsibilities: Work with project teams with developing visuals of exhibit projects currently in development, including but not limited to production of digital renderings, scale models, elevations, floor plans, isometric projections, perspective sketches, exhibit graphics, etc. Assist in prototyping experiences with visitors, participate in exhibit team discussions relative to exhibit development and design; participate in department meetings, and perform other items that relate to the operations of the design work group. The Facility and Event Sales intern will gain practical experience associated with selling/planning event space to new corporate and social accounts as well as existing client relationships at the Science Museum of Minnesota. Responsibilities: Assist with responding to inquiries from potential brides with space information and capabilities in a timely fashion; assist with room calendar management and availability requests for corporate business and follow up with basic site information; assemble corporate and wedding packets for site tours and help conduct site tours as needed; assist with client data entry; write post-event thank you letters; attend internal event planning meetings; other duties as assigned. Responsibilities: Projects will include analyzing and re-vamping the current museum internship program, assisting with entering data and running reports in the museum's HRIS (ADP HR/Benefits Solution), working with the HR team to update the employee handbook, and other duties as assigned.
