The approach of IDEA Cooperative is to create space and support for teens to work on engineering and design projects, independently and in teams. By connecting these projects to the interests and concerns of the youth and to needs in the community (schools, community centers, small businesses, families, the environment, etc.), youth will see the impact that they can have on the world as engineers and designers. By working on projects that are open-ended, they'll be able to use their unique creative vision to create and test solutions.

Youth will also work with engineering, design and information technologies and tools, meet adults who are in the fields of engineering and design, and take field trips to build their knowledge about the projects they're working on.
