Learn at Homeschool Classes
The Science Museum of Minnesota has exciting homeschool classes available for families looking to supplement their science curriculum, explore physics, biology, engineering and more with our specialized equipment and expert teachers, and network with other homeschooling families.
Our homeschool classes are offered during the fall, winter, and spring for ages 5 to 13. Check for our Fall 2009 catalog online and in your mailbox this September.
Homeschool Science Club workshops are held once a month in October, November, January, February, March and April for ages 5 to 13. Each workshop has a theme and features hands-on activities. Workshops fill quickly! Past themes have included:
- The Great Lakes
- Air and Wind
- How Things Come Apart
We also offer in-depth science classes that are offered for 10 to 13 year olds. These programs feature hands-on activities and creative, knowledgeable instructors, and they meet for multiple weeks. Topics align with Minnesota Science Standards and have included:
- Introduction to Biology
- Introduction to Chemistry
- Genetics
- Astronomy
- Aerospace Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Forensic Science
Homeschool Projects is an in-depth program for 7-9 year olds that features project-based, hands-on learning tied with science content and creative, fun teachers. Topics have included:
- Electricity and Magnetism
- Light, Color and Sound

If you organize a group of 15 or more visitors, you can get reduced admission to the museum's exhibits and Omnitheater.

| Disease Detectives This exhibit in the Human Body Gallery introduces you to three patients, all of whom are suffering from different illnesses. Examine each interactive mannequin—taking their temperatures and listening to their hearts, lungs, and bowels—to determine what's making them sick. |

| Low Life Labs Find out what robot designers are learning from ants, cockroaches, and other simple life-forms and how the knowledge gleaned from these creatures' natural adaptations to their environments is used to make robots even better. |

| Tissues of Life Meet tissue researchers and learn about the four types of tissues that make up the human body. Play Tissues Invaders or one of our other games and test your knowledge of viruses, bacteria, and how your body works to defend itself! |
