Privacy. Civil Liberties. Nanotechnology.
New technologies are revolutionizing the way we track threats—disease, terrorism, crime—to individuals and society as a whole. Nanoscale technology is one of the many approaches currently being explored. However, how do we balance an individual's right to privacy vs. community safety? What do you consider a civil liberty? And who ultimately sets these standards?
The Science Museum of Minnesota invites you to participate in a free forum on privacy and nanoscale technology. We'll feature an introduction to nano, followed by an exploration of the possible ethical implications. No previous knowledge of nano needed! Light refreshments (coffee and dessert) will be served. The forum is FREE, but space is limited.
When: Thursday, September 18 from 7-9 p.m. (doors open at 6:30)
Where: Science Museum of Minnesota, 120 W. Kellogg Blvd, St. Paul MN 55102

Nanotechnology in Health Care: Possibilities, Risks and Benefits
Nanoscale technology ("nano tech") could have a revolutionary effect on our world, changing how we approach everything from pollution control to the treatment of cancer. Nanoscale science-enabled medical technologies have the potential to transform health care as we know it. But should new applications be available before we understand the possible risks?
The Science Museum of Minnesota invites the public to participate in a free upcoming forum Nanotechnology in Health Care: Possibilities, Risks and Benefits. The evening includes an introduction to nanoscale technology, a presentation on the possible medical applications, and, finally, a group discussion. Come explore this important and revolutionary topic!
Light refreshments (coffee and dessert) will be served. The forum is FREE, but space is limited.

Nanotechnology and Alternative Energy
Climate change concerns, rising energy costs, and dwindling natural resources are causing people everywhere to take a closer look at the relationship between human activity and our environment. The emerging field of nanotechnology presents great promise to address these issues, but it carries a great deal of uncertainty —and perhaps its own environmental risks.
The Science Museum of Minnesota invites the public to participate in a free upcoming forum Nanotechnology and Alternative Energy. In this forum, participants become the decision makers, weighing the possible environmental benefits of nanotechnology against its potential pitfalls. Should the bulk of research funding be dedicated to the implementation of existing technologies and to conservation, or should more effort be dedicated to designing new nanotechnologies that might be of greater long-term impact? Come explore this important and revolutionary topic!
Light refreshments (coffee and dessert) will be served. The forum is FREE, but space is limited.
