Field Trip Policies

Reservations
Field trip rates are available for school groups visiting the museum Monday - Friday, and arriving no later than 12:30 p.m. Advance reservations are required for all field trips and must be made over the phone by calling (651) 221-9444 or (800) 221-9444.

Discount coupons are not valid for school groups, but you can use Science Museum memberships.

You must reserve lunch space when you reserve your field trip, whether you are bringing your own lunches or eating at the museum's restaurants. If you don't, there may not be a place for your group to sit.

Confirmation
After reserving your field trip, you will receive a written confirmation invoice for your visit. Contact us immediately at (651) 221-9444 if anything is incorrect.

Final Count and Cancellations
Cancellations and adjustments to final numbers must be made no later than 2 weeks in advance of your visit and prior to final payment, by calling the museum at (651) 221-9444. After that time no adjustments will be made. Vouchers for future use will be issued for any absentees on the day of your visit.

Final Payment
All reservations must be paid in full prior to museum entry. Final payment is due in the form of a single check or credit card prior to, or upon arrival at the School Box Office. No refunds will be issued after payment has been received. Any adjustments will be made in the form of vouchers for a future visit.

Chaperone Policy

The Science Museum requires at least one chaperone for every 10 students. A chaperone is an adult over 21. However, smaller subgroups mean a more meaningful—and safer—experience for our students, so the museum admits up to two chaperones free for every 10 students. Chaperones must stay with their students at all times and are responsible for the conduct of the students they are accompanying. Without the minimum number of one chaperone per 10 students, all teachers and chaperones will be charged for admission. Museum Manners

A few rules to assure a safe and fun trip for everyone (including teachers and chaperones). Review with students and chaperones.

• Respect others in your group and other museum visitors
• Use indoor voices
• Walk in the museum—no running
• No climbing on exhibits
• No food or drink outside of lunch area
• Backpacks are not allowed in the exhibits
• Photographs may be taken in the exhibit halls, but not in the Omnitheater, auditorium, or special exhibitions
• Teachers and chaperones must stay with their groups at all times

In the infrequent event that a student's behavior is disruptive to others, museum staff will ask for additional assistance from teachers and chaperones for the group. In extreme situations, museum staff reserves the right to ask the students to leave the museum.
