School Family Nights at the Museum
New for the 2013-2014 School Year:
Promote family learning and science literacy for your school community by booking one of our new School Family Nights. Programs are held on select Thursday nights from 5:30-7:30 p.m. or 6-8 p.m. beginning February 2014.
School Family Nights at the Science Museum of Minnesota offer a night of science exploration for your entire school community: students, siblings, family members, and school staff. Your school can reserve the museum's interactive exhibits and special hands-on activities presented by our diverse staff and volunteers, allowing your students to engage in one-of-a-kind science learning with peers and family members.
Omnitheater and special exhibitions are not included in the price of School Family Nights admission but are available for advanced purchase at group rates.
Available School Family Nights Dates for the 2013-2014 Pilot Year
The deadline for applications is January 9, 2014. Schools selected for the 2014 School Family Nights will be notified by January 16, 2014. Rolling applications will still be accepted throughout the school year to fill any vacancies. Applications for School Family Nights will be reviewed as they are received.
The selection process will favor schools with over 50% Free and Reduced Lunch, and/or schools who have not taken recent field trips to the Science Museum of Minnesota.
School buses depart from your school, and you arrive at the museum. After two hours of fun, your school community boards the buses at the Education Entrance to take you back to your school.
Schools are responsible for booking their own bus transportation to the museum. If you qualify for our bus reimbursement program, the museum will send your school a reimbursement check as soon as you have faxed us the bus receipt. Limited funding is available to offset the transportation cost of a field trip to the Science Museum of Minnesota and will be distributed to qualifying schools until funds are gone. Learn More
Some families may chose to drive to the museum; the cost of parking in the ramp is not included in School Family Night admission.
The Science Museum of Minnesota is committed to making its exhibitions, Omnitheater films, programs, and services accessible to everyone. Accommodations may be available for language interpreters. Learn More
