Paul Martin - Vice President, Exhibits

As Vice President for Exhibits Paul is responsible for directing the Science Museum of Minnesota's efforts to develop, design and produce exhibits and related science learning opportunities. These efforts focus on visitors to the museum's riverfront facility in St. Paul, users of its national touring exhibitions and partnerships with other museums and educational organizations. Over the past 30 years Paul has been involved in the evolution of exhibitions as a medium for engaging visitors in interactive learning through many innovative museum and exhibition projects. He has worked with over 50 museums and science centers and has held leadership positions with Museum Content Builders Inc., The Field Museum, Jim Henson Productions, the Minnesota Historical Society and the Science Museum of Minnesota.

Bill Maloney - Director, Traveling Exhibits Program

The first thing you need to know about Bill is, when asked for personal info to include in his bio, he wrote, "I secretly want to be the voice of a movie animation character." That perspective has served him well in the crazy world of traveling exhibits.

After earning a BA from Tufts University, Bill spent several years working in retail display production and design, and medical education media design and production. Bill manages all aspects of the traveling shows we circulate to other institutions. He is currently touring RACE: Are We So Different? and Disease Detectives. Past shows include Wolves and Humans, Bears: Imagination and Reality, Hunters of the Sky, Bionics & Transplants, Cenote of Sacrifice, Robots and Us, and Raise the Roof.

Bill cites Body Worlds as his favorite non-Science Museum exhibit. "It draws its power from the object—the human body. It is artistic, awe inspiring and tells fascinating stories to which visitors relate with immediate intimacy. And it travels! Pure genius."

Joe Imholte - Director, Special Exhibits

Joe started at the Science Museum of Minnesota as a visitor assistant while still in college. After securing a BA in Environmental Science and Political Science from Hamline University in 1996, he moved up the ladder as Omnitheater usher and console operator, circulation manager for The Big Frame, Visitor Relations Manager, Operations Manager and Project Leader.

Joe has been project manager on every traveling exhibition to come to the Science Museum since 2000. He was the project leader for the Cabaret Mechanical Theater and A Day in Pompeii exhibitions, a role he currently fills for the Dead Sea Scrolls.

When asked to name a favorite museum, Joe came up with three. "The often-mentioned City Museum is a total blast and awesome in nearly every way. Yad Vashem Holocaust History Museum in Jerusalem was an overpowering experience in a beautiful space. And the Durham Museum of Life and Science—you can see the passion that the people that work there have in the exhibits and experiences out on the floor and especially in their incredible outdoor exhibits."

Sue Landers - Administrative Manager

Don't let the VP or the Department Heads fools you—Sue is the one who really runs this place. She handles labor and financial data tracking and reporting, contract administration and invoicing, assisting division staff with purchasing and accounting procedures, addressing space and equipment needs, human resources issues, and basically being the VP's right hand in maintaining a smoothly operating work environment.

With a BA in History and English from Drake University, Sue has spent over thirty years working in institutions of education and corporations. She has significant experience in project management and administration, project accounting, contract administration, teaching, multicultural and interpersonal relations, cross-cultural learning, and cultivating cooperative effort toward accomplishing major goals.

Asked about her life before the Science Museum, Sue replied, "My four years of service in the US Peace Corps was a period of great personal growth, which continues to help me work with and respond to many different people and situations."
