In its resting state, this model shows how an artesian well or spring bubbles water to the surface. Using a hand pump, visitors pump water from the space adjacent to the well and observe the slowing and then the stopping of flow up and out of the well, demonstrating how pumping too much water in areas adjacent to natural wells and springs interrupts water flow to them.
