EiE Overview, Consultation, and Beginning Experiences
These sessions are designed to provide an overview of the EiE structure and philosophy shaping the curricular materials, to answer questions you may have about the curriculum and how it could be implemented in your classroom, school, and/or district, as well as, allow participants to explore the introductory engineering and technology activities.
2-Hour Session Outcomes:
Experience and surface definitions of Technology and Engineering as presented by EiE
Review EiE curriculum structure, units, curriculum connections, and grade level appropriateness
Provide an opportunity for questions and concerns
3-Hour Session Outcomes:
Experience and surface definitions of Technology and Engineering as presented by EiE
Review EiE curriculum structure, units, curriculum connections, and grade level appropriateness
Engage in a select activity from a sample EiE unit
Provide an opportunity for questions and concerns
Fee (2-Hour): $400 (Science House $350) Fee (3-Hour): $600 (Science House $525) Maximum Number of Participants: 30 Grade Level: Multiple SMM Presenters: 1
"Everyone Engineers!" Unit Specific training
These workshops are designed to introduce educators to the EiE program and its materials. The workshop will allow participants to explore the introductory engineering and technology activities. Participants will then begin exploring a specific EiE unit.

Review definitions of Technology and Engineering as presented by EiE
Briefly review EiE curriculum structure, units, curriculum connections, and grade level appropriateness (through the lens of selected EiE unit)
Review from selected EiE unit:
Lesson 1 (story book)
Lesson 2 (A Broader View of an Engineering Field)
Experience from selected EiE unit:
Lesson 3 (Science Connections)
Lesson 4 (Engineering Design Challenge)
Provide an opportunity for questions and concerns
6-Hour Workshop Outcomes:
Experience and surface definitions of Technology and Engineering as presented by EiE
Review EiE curriculum structure, units, curriculum connections, and grade level appropriateness
Review from selected EiE unit:
Lesson 1 (story book)
Experience from selected EiE unit:
Lesson 2 (A Broader View of an Engineering Field)
Lesson 3 (Science Connections)
Lesson 4 (Engineering Design Challenge)
Increased time for reflection and planning for curriculum implementation and integration
Provide an opportunity for questions and concerns
*Requires that participants have completed a 3-Hour "EiE Overview, Consultation, and Beginning Experiences" Session
Fee (3-Hour): $1,200 (Science House $1,000) Fee (6-Hour): $2,400 (Science House $2,000) Maximum Number of Participants: 30 Grade Level: Variable by recommended grade bands for EiE units SMM Presenters: 2
Residency Programming
Modeling engineering lessons and pedagogies is an effective way to increase teacher understanding of what engineering might look like in the classrooms and how it can connect to other disciplines. SMM Outreach Specialists will come to your classroom(s) to deliver all or a subset of the lessons in a particular EiE unit. Sessions will be held after the residency to elicit classroom-grounded feedback, which will inform school/classroom implementation.
Residency Outcomes—teacher(s)/school staff will:
Observe and participate with students as they experience selected EiE units including Lesson 3 (Scientific Data Inform Engineering Design) and Lesson 4 (Engineering Design Challenge)
Discuss and review EiE implementation and student learning with SMM staff
Residency Deliverables—SMM staff will:
Develop plan and schedules to teach EiE lessons in the classroom setting
Deliver selected EiE units as determined in planning and scheduling sessions
Fee: Variable (Expamle—6 day program, 3 classroom sessions per day*, pre and post classroom teacher sessions=$2,110); Science House discount applies only on pre and post classroom teacher sessions $2,050
*Minimum of three contact hours of SMM instructional time per day Maximum Number of Participants: 1-6 Teachers Grade Level: Variable by recommended grade bands for EiE units SMM Presenters: 1
