EiE in Minneapolis Public Schools

The Science Museum of Minnesota (SMM), in partnership with the Museum of Science, Boston (MoS), Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS), and Hopkins Public Schools (HPS), proposed to develop a multi-year program partnership to increase the quality and quantity of engineering education in Minneapolis and Hopkins Public Schools.

The strategies we are applying for successful program implementation include:

• Building a strong leadership alliance among district stakeholders;
• Developing teachers' abilities to successfully implement this new discipline in a sequential way that includes classroom modeling by museum educators, teacher professional development, and ongoing access to support resources;
• Fostering the interest and support of students' families/caregivers for STEM;
• Assessing and evaluating student and teacher gains.

All of these strategies woven together will lead to student engagement and success in STEM fields.
