Engineering Family Event

A fun and interactive engineering experience for your entire school community.

Be Creative, Be an Engineer
We are all born engineers—fascinated with building, exploring new technologies, and discovering how things work. Join the Science Museum of Minnesota to bring your inner engineering creativity to life through the Be Creative—Be an Engineer! family program. We will experiment with a variety of materials to design, build, and create solutions to engineering challenges. Activity stations include Foam Bridges, Wind Tube Flyers, Design a Belt, Water Tension activities, and Tower Design.

Carnival of Engineering
Step right up to explore engineering and technology! Experience a school carnival in a whole new way as the Science Museum puts an engineering twist on carnival games in this hands-on program. Activity stations include a reimagined Frog Flinger, Cantilever Building Challenge, Flinkers, the Hand Crane game, Giant Slide, and Rollercoasters in a Tube.

Both program options include a 30 minute interactive large-group presentation followed by an hour of free exploration during which families visit hands-on engineering activity stations.

Engineering Family Events are designed as stand-alone programs, but can also paired with other school functions. Consider combining it with your school's fall kickoff event, science fair, school dinner, STEM event, or math night. It also makes the ideal wrap-up to an Engineering Immersion Residency, empowering students to share their new engineering skills with their families.
