Engineering is Elementary®

Problem Solving, Inquiry, and Innovation®

Engineering is Elementary (EiE) is a unique engineering and technology curriculum designed for elementary students. Developed by the Museum of Science, Boston, EiE uses an interdisciplinary approach to teach engineering through stories and interactive activities that engage grade-school classrooms in fun, creative, and practical ways.

Each EiE unit requires over 3,000 hours of development over the course of two years. In addition to this development time, units are pilot tested across Massachusetts and field tested across the United States. The Science Museum of Minnesota has been a National Field Test Site for EiE since 2005.

Through a four-year grant from The Cargill Foundation, the Science Museum of Minnesota has embarked on a district-wide implementation of the EiE curriculum. We're bringing the excitement and wonder of engineering to every third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade classroom in Minneapolis and Hopkins public schools.

The Science Museum of Minnesota is reaching beyond MPS and HPS by providing EiE Teacher Workshops & Programs throughout the Upper Midwest. To learn more about bringing EiE to your school or district, please contact .
