I remember when I was a second grader, off for the first time to summer camp. The first night, of course, I couldnt sleep. As I lay in my bunk bed, wide awake, I heard the hoot of an owl and the chriping of crickets answering. I crept out of bed and onto the deck and I watched as the owl took flight with the quietest rustle and the crickets chriped their little heart out. A deer, timid and shy, stepped out of the trees and began to nibble at a spot of fresh grass. Now, whenever I hear those sounds, I stop and trace my footsteps back in time to that wonderful night.
