i thought it was really cool how it was presented and yet it was kinda gross but i leared alot from it i know it will be good informaton for me in the feture.
I thought that the exibit was a little boring, you know same stuff over and over again but I also think that this information probably will be usefull in the future.besides I'm sure that whoever put the whole exibit up ,it must have taken them a long time .Overall it was good. Thanks!!!!!!!!!
I think that the Body Worlds exhibit was utterly and totally awesome! There were so many different things to look at, and the commentary on the earphone thingys was excellent. This has been my favorite exhibit in the Science Museum so far! This visit was ultamitally awesonely cool! After all, who wouldn't?
It changed how I think about death-- death is no longer something that I view as morbid or scary or something that happens to you... I now view it as a much more natural and graceful process. Additionally, it made me value my body so much more than I did before.
thought it got a little old but overall it was extremely interesting. as a grad student going into a medical field, it was neat to see my book anatomy come to life in a much different more realistic way.
I agree. It was the same thing continuously. Great at first, but then got pretty boring. The only thing that was exciting was the exibits of the babies/pregnancy.
you were probably not reading very much... or paying enough attention to the scientific detail -- and value ----- you are probably really uninterested in science!!!!! museums are not meant for u.
Actually we try to make an interesting experience for all. Not just those who are super interested and want to read all the panels. Its a challenging task but we do try to be interesting for people already engaged in science as well as those who might not find it exciting yet.
i thought it was going to be very boreing but it wasn't.at first i thought it was very disgusting but then i understood things better about life. i really loved seing and reading about the smokeing lungs and heart. tht made me want my dad to stop smokeing even more. So thank you so much for lettting me experience an interesting way oof looking at life.
From a physical therapist perspective, this is an amazing exhibit that really allows an individual to view the body in a unique way to faclitate more challenged learning and aspects of the body that you can not imagine while working on a supine cadaver while in school. it ties in the components of tendons, ligaments, and muscles to really show the big picture and see how potential positions and stressors on the body can really affect function and life. i think all health professionals should witness this exhibit and further educate others. thanks
It would have been a better experience if there were not so many people in the exhibit especially in the fetus part. It was interesting but I felt a bit queazy.
It was nothing I didnt see in highschool. If it was more interactive it might not have been so boring. I was disappointed. There shouldnt be kids allowed, they get distracting.
you NEVER could have seen anything like this in HS---you missed the whole point of the exhibit (interact? like DANCE with them, or what???) Do you have any idea what knid of meticulous dissection it takes to get the bodies to look like that???And the technology involved to preserve them in such a colorful (real lie color, not brown, which is what formalin does) state. You wasted your time by going.
I thought the exhibit was fantastic. Science educators in middle and secondary schools could use this with great benefit. Too see the anatomical complexities of the human body in this forum is a greater teaching tool than any other method. Too bad that more cities can't have a permanent rather than traveling exhibit.
i found it very educational.it made me think about what i put into my body and how I should take care of it. i also felt a deeper appreciation of my creator. he really maped out every detail and facit of my human body. very interesting.
I thought it was a bit boring, though it was interesting to see the different exhibits. It would be better, and maybe less boring if there was more involvment...tour guides and things like that.
hey i thought it was really neat. Some parts I had to remind myself that it was actually real human bodies. The part with the arteries was really cool with all the different animals My favorite part was probably the fetus room with all the different stages of a baby.
i agree. after a while it was the same thing over and over. some of the poses were also kind of weird, and along with that the fetus section was very disturbing
i thought body worlds is a great place to learn. I didn't know i had all those diiferent body parts. I larned aboutligaments and found out that i had many more body parts than i knew i had.
the body worlds exhibit was very interesting. My favorite part was at the end where there was the horse. it's very cool to learn this information an I will tell my friends all about it!
I thought it was pretty creepy. It's very dimented, because it was the samething over and over. Tenodons and tendons and tendons. Maybe when I get older I'll think differently. But not now. BORING!
ummmm...... it was soooooooooooo boring except the partwith the teacher. i said that it was my math teacher. and you guys passed around the lung!!!! i wouldnt touch that with a ten foot pole. i would rather pay YOU money than watch that again! + why did you have to leave the dead private parts on. That was just nasty
It is okay that some people have negative, immature, ignorant comments about the exhibit. Those people will hopefully mature some day, think back on the experience, and gain a greater appreciation for the wonderful opportunity of seeing medical science mixed with art that Body Worlds has given the public.
i agree. they really need to mature. their bodies look the same, and they need to understand how their bodies work, so they know how to care for them properly.
The presentation made the display seem like a sideshow. I did appreciate the huge advancement in the ability to understand human anatomy as a dynamic whole, but ultimately coulsn't escape the macabre presentation.
I found this exhibit to be very educational. However, I would consider that because there is no age restriction, to create a different display for young children. Your choice of positions of the models were scientific, in an artistic way and I enjoyed looking at it educationaly Your choice of openness, however became graphic at the point of the prenatal infants. I would suggest if not a seperate display, atleast a warning label for the young and the squeamish. Otherwise, I thourgally enjoyed your exhibit and will look forward to returning. Thank you for the experiance.
This was very intriguing. I am in awe...especially enjoyed the fetal development room. How special...I feel such a sense of reverence for these people....thank you.

How could anyone think this was boring? Honestly, this was the most amazing thing I've ever seen! The multitude of poses and the description of the specimans keeps the interest if you're willing to read and look closely. It revealed how fragile yet resilient the body can be (show by the hip/knee replacements). Additionally, the fact that there were that many donors who had dark lungs and seemed to be exposed to smoke is a sad fact in our lives. The fetal and utero specimans were so eye-opening--it made me feel thankful that I have two healthy nephews. The fragility and amazement of pregnancy is taken for granted.
my overall opinion on body worlds was that it was something new to observe. It allowed for you to not only just listen and see what it looked like but it also went into depth expanding your knowledge on the body that you function everyday! I really thought that the baby exhibit part seeing the difromities and everything really made you think WOW I was that small once and made me think how cool that actually was. Also when you saw the embryo made me think that i was actually that small once and compared to how much of a difference that is really makes you think how cool that is! Thank you so much for allowing this exhibit to be here!
I really enjoyed this experience. I think some may believe it is boring, but i think that some people just need to actually read stuff on it!! Don't bother coming and wasting money if you don't want to read the info and learn. It is definently a mind changer by the way so come. By the way, these keyboards suck!!
I thought the exhibit was very informative and tastefully done. The only part I had a tought time with was the fetus portion of the exhibit, but I did appreciate the warning.
ok.... this was pretty cool...i thought that the baby exibit was sad though..i dont get how you found all those little baby things. yeah but idid have alot of fun...i heard that this whole museum was going away and going to go back to europe? why is it leaving? how long did it even stay anyways...or how long has it been here whatever you want to say. but yeah i had alot of fun here and thank you. i hope you have alot of fun in europe if thats where your going...
The whole body world thing was pretty awsome. I had a fun time spending my day learning about the body. I especially liked the whole body figures and the ones with the sports positioning were awsome!!!!!!!!
very educational and interesting. we loved all the exibits! we just finished learning about medical terminology and the funtions/parts of the body in school and we found that helpful when examining the bodies. great exibit!
I Thought the exhibit was very informative and exciting. It made me wonder what i looked like and made me rethink some desicions that ive been making in my life such as smoking and other dangerous habits.
I liked the exibit overall, it gives us a true view into our inner seleves. However, I noticed that a majority of the individulas on display had blue eyes. I wouldn't say this is a bad thing, just interisting.
Eyes are very difficult to plastinate, and so are often replaced with replicas. I went through the exhibit, and I found that of the 24 plastinates that have eyes (several either do not have eyes or their eyes are closed) two were plastinated (which makes the color of the eye indistinguishable). Of the remaining 22 with replica eyes four had brown eyes, and one had green eyes. I don't know why that is, but I'll contact the Institute for Plastination to see if they have a reason.
According to Body Worlds staff, the eyes are primarily blue because the bodies in the exhibition come from from the Institute for Plastination’s body donation program, which is based in Germany, where donors are mainly northern European, genetically their eyes tend to be blue.
I wish to know how this is any different then prostitution. In both situations people are selling a gift of god for worldly gain. And in both situations another gains the use of your body. That is why I dissagre with this exibit.
I think the main reason that they are very different is the intent of use of the body. Neither the person who donated their body nor their families see any financial gain from their donation - their donations are an extremely generous gift, freely given. The bodies are then displayed for the purposes of education. Their donations provide visitors to the exhibition with an unique opportunity to see and learn about their own physiology, health issues, and to gain new appreciation and respect for what it means to be human in a manner that was not previously possible. The intent of the exhibition is to educate and inspire.
i highly disagree with the supposition that this exhibit is in any way comprable to prostitution. there is no "worldly gain"- there is an advancement of knowledge and a contribution for greater understanding about a very immediate medium. it is incredibly disappointing that you couldn't seperate exploration and the search for knowledge from a personal philosophy.
Body Worlds was cool in a gross sort of way, but I liked it anyway.
It didn't effect me personally, but I don't take it offensively
I didn't look at it by me onsies though, it recieved a thumbs up & a WHOA!
Why couldn't they do animals* too? or is that just too hard for you????
*besides the blood-steams of the chicken and duck etc.
The BODY WORLDS installation crew told me that, in fact, there is an animal BODY WORLDS exhibit in the works. Word is that it will include an elephant and a mother and baby camel.
1. Outside of the touring Body Worlds traveling exhibits, how else are the platinates used? Do medical schools, universities, or other educational/research facilities acquire any of the plastinates?
2. Some of the newer plastinates (ring gymnist and female gymnist) have hair or eyelashes (figure skater). Is this their actual hair?
3. Phoenix with Birds was the only one that seemed to have a literary title. But since the mythological Phoenix actual was a bird, not a human holding two birds, was Von Hagens simply being imaginative with the scene/title, or is this plastinate recreating a specific literary point of reference?
4. Were all of the gray-lung plastinates definitely smokers, or can second-hand smoke or air pollution darken the lungs in the same way?
1. The process of plastination was developed to prepare bodies for teaching anatomy lessons to future doctors. It was after the successes with that that Body Worlds developed touring exhibitions to visit museum. The plastination process has been around for about 20 years while the museum tours have been happening for about 10 years.
2. The hair on the female gymnast is not real. The hair on the rest of the plastinates is real.
3. You'll have to ask Gunther von Hagens about what his title intentions were.
4. Outside of the two sets of lungs that are definitely labled as coming from smokers, we don't know the respiratory history of the rest of the donors. They could be smokers, ex-smokers or people who live in cities with high amounts of air pollution. Almost everyone has some degree to gray-black in their lungs from air pollution or second-hand smoke.
Plastinated bodies or body parts -- if the process is done correctly -- should last forever. They have no organic materials left in them that will decompose. To the best of my knowledge, no plastinates have had to be disposed of yet from Body Worlds.

Should have gotten the more involved audio tour. Cool at first, but got boring after a while. Still worth it overall, though. The whole bodies were cooler than the display cases.
I really liked the exibit, but it was a little tooo much to look at. It was like an overload of info after a while. If I could look at it in sections, it would be alot better. I really thought it was a good exibit, though.
I was disapointed with this display, mainly because of the amount of people let into the area at one time. You had to fight your way up to see anything. We missed about half of everything because we couldn't see or get through the crowd. I was also really surprised to see how many young kids under 10 that were there. They didn't have a clue what they were looking at and the comments that some of the kids made were rude and insulting. I know the demand for this display hads been overwelming, but it wasn't worth our time, beccause of all the people. We went on Friday 7/7 and got let in at 1:30 pm. We went during the week to avoid the crowds, I wonder what the weekend crowds are like?
What parts we did get to see and read about were great and educational. Even my 14 and 15 year learned some things. But got frustrated at the crowds and ended up just wanting to get out. The movie in the imax was great! Very educational.
Overall a circus freak show. One third of it was good, the rest was worthless. They tried to make it into a gross out art show instead of informative. Some bodies were flayed out to look like Jurasic Park. The items in the case were the only informative items.
Gross, in a good way. But got quite boring. =]It would be more exciting if there were lollipops and balloons and stickers at the end to greet us and brighten up our day.
The Body Worlds family guide on this website and available as a brochure at the museum clearly points out that most of the bodies include their sexual organs.
People, be more specific. Tell us WHY you hate it.
Don't just say "I saw dead people." Of course they're dead.
I haven't gone yet, but I think it's gonna be awesome...
They WERE real people and they donated their bodies fro us to see and better understand what our bodies do for us by the minute and we should know that and respect our bodies because of it.
I didn't love it because I thought it dragged on. It showed alot of the same things.
Like the statues of the acrobatics there where three ( two on on platform) one would be enough,
I thought bodyworlds is amazing. I seen it for my second time today. the first time was with my Kinesiology class, and this time for fun It was great to experience it in a medical state of mind and a relaxed state of mind and for my own benefit. i think It is something that you should use the earphones with. I will come back before Labor day to use them. I have recommended this exhibit to many people. Although people find it disturbing, it makes you think and understand what we are made of and an appreciation for your body. I think it is great.
This is a note for all PARENTS! Children under 10 should not go in BODY WORLDS because it is not rated G. This part of the musuem has distrubing things in it. I will not get into detail for if you want to see it I would spoil it. VEIW AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Since when are penises, vaginas and breasts considered disturbing?? We all have one or the other. And they all three serve a purpose other than sexual. Grow up.
The exhibit is very interesting and I would definitely recommend it. Two things stood out for me. One is why would anyone smoke after seeing what it does to your lungs? The second was just amazement at how complex we are - and that this complexity exists from the tiniest fetus all the way through death. I also couldn't help from studying the faces of the plastinates and wondering - who was this person? how did they die? what did they do? I didn't find it creepy or gross, as described by others, but it was on my mind. As such, I liked studying the organs more than studying the full body plastinates. However, the poses were beautifully done - they showed how marvelous and beautiful we all are.
*Ahem* Yes well, Dead bodies, how dramatic and slightly disturbing. It got kinda boring after awhile...but...I could tell they were trying to do a good thing with this exhibit, but mostly, it just looked like a really disturbed art show. I deffinently needed a sticker, or somthing at the end o.T < sad
Everybody has these parts and pieces in them, why when they are displayed are the "gross" I hope your doctor does not decline to remove your tumor because he is "against it".
It was a lot less gross than i thought it would be. I don't understand why anyone would think it was boring. To me, it was etremely interesting and i would recomend it to anyone who asks.
hey i was sitting behind this guy when he wrote this comment! totally cool! well, i agree. this exhibit was totally awesome and i also would recomend that people come to it! so worth the wait to get in. the movie was pretty sweet too.
It was OK. But i have seen beter. Also it is to long! Make it shorter. It was fun to see what I look like on the inside! I also liked the Human Body movie!
I thought it was scary it looked freaky. I thought it was wierd that people acually donated thier bodies to you guys, I would want my body to rest in peace. Not in peices. It was a little disturbing but crazy cool too.
As a pre-med student studying biology and chemistry out of textbooks, it was really awesome to see these plastinates. I would highly recommend this exhibit to anyone interested in biology, kinesiology, or just the human body in general.
Good!! But you should have little journals so people actually REMEMBER!!! Take my advice or else nobody will see it! I wrote this on the comment board yesterday (which is when I saw BODY WORLDS).
i thought that it got a little boring after a while. it didnt change.
i thought it ws boring too.
i thought it was really kool how they put it together but i was kinda grossed out
i thought it was really cool how it was presented and yet it was kinda gross but i leared alot from it i know it will be good informaton for me in the feture.
I thought it was interesting and well done...it is amazing what we can learn about ourselves in todays society compared to what we used to know....
I thought that the exibit was a little boring, you know same stuff over and over again but I also think that this information probably will be usefull in the future.besides I'm sure that whoever put the whole exibit up ,it must have taken them a long time .Overall it was good. Thanks!!!!!!!!!
cool and cool
meh too.........

I agree! I have learned these things throughout nursing school but UNDERSTOOD it more after seeing this exhibit!
I thought the same thing, but I liked the exhibit on the babies and pregnancy. I liked it overall.
i agree!
I think you should have a display of a woman who wore a corset.
I agree. It was the same thing continuously. Great at first, but then got pretty boring. The only thing that was exciting was the exibits of the babies/pregnancy.
i thought it was going to be more interesting than it was. i was a dissappointed.
i thought it was pretty boring also
but then again i may be to young to understand it. i am 13
yea me too

I learned alot.
At first i thought it would be fake bodies but they were from real people.
I thought it was cool.
I think the science museum is ridiculously overpriced seeing that the body works exhibits weren't even that spectacular.
The body worlds ticket price is set by the body worlds exhibit. You would pay the same price at any Body Worlds exhibit in the country.
I don't think you have any idea how astronomically expensive it is to create something as complex as Body Worlds.
i thought it was going to be very boreing but it wasn't.at first i thought it was very disgusting but then i understood things better about life. i really loved seing and reading about the smokeing lungs and heart. tht made me want my dad to stop smokeing even more. how can the human body be boring?!
I Disliked it immensly
i like how everything is in great detail...super fun y'all...neato definitely cuming back

the body world was one of the best things that has been at the science museum.
This exhibit was great.
i thought it was great! hope you did toooooo!!!! i don't think there needs to be so much negitivity i mean come on people!!!!!
Gross!!!! I just got out of it like 5 minutes ago... it's disgusting I had to leave early!!
It needs to be more kid material half the moms were covering the kids eyes
I thought it was really good. I think that it deserves a better rep.
i thought that body worlds was fun some parts gross me out
What a wonderful way to learn about the human body. It has made everything I have learned about the human body real. Thank you!!

what a wonderful exhibit! I can't believe how cool the body is-
it was okay not all that good i agree boring after awhile but baby exipet rocks

at least you got to see it. it was sold out before i saw it

That's awesome I can't wait until it comes out. Hopefully it's as good as this one!
Here Are My Four Questions...
Answers from a Body Worlds gallery supervisor:
Almost everyone has some degree to gray-black in their lungs from air pollution or second-hand smoke.
how long does a body last and how are they disposed of after their usefullness is over?
Plastinated bodies or body parts -- if the process is done correctly -- should last forever. They have no organic materials left in them that will decompose. To the best of my knowledge, no plastinates have had to be disposed of yet from Body Worlds.

kinda boring after awhile
Really exciting!Great shows! You get to learn what you didnt know already.
I had so much fun at the Body World. It was great. I would love to come back here but i live all the way in California. AWSOME PLACE!!!!!
I loved the movie though it had some disgusting parts.
a little bit odd but the baby was cute
I thought it was educational and intersting, i just thought it got boring after a while, and the fact that we couldnt go back inside there bothered me
i hated it
Body world had "interesting things"
a bit weird
I saw dead people
Now thats what I like to see, NOT! A bunch of dead bodys in one room. Now thats just WRONG!
I hate it I HATE IT!
some of it was scary.
Should have gotten the more involved audio tour. Cool at first, but got boring after a while. Still worth it overall, though. The whole bodies were cooler than the display cases.
We thought that it was good, except there needs to be more women!! Almost all of the bodies were men!!
i thought that the poses were extremely fascinating - they made it seem like they were real.
I really liked the exibit, but it was a little tooo much to look at. It was like an overload of info after a while. If I could look at it in sections, it would be alot better. I really thought it was a good exibit, though.
it was good, but was a little too exposing
you should explain things about the exhibits that kids have'nt already learned in school.
i've been here 4 3 hours because my parents just won't let me leave
it was pretty cool, the whole bodies were cooler than the display cases
i thought the little deformed babies were really creepy
I thought it was very cool and interesting. The baby part was my personal favorite.
For someone like me, who gets pretty grossed out by things like this, I thought it was a great exhibit. Well put together and very educational. Thanks
To be perfectly honest, I found it to be boring and there was not enough interaction and much too quiet to fully appreciate the topic.
It stank.
Overall a circus freak show. One third of it was good, the rest was worthless. They tried to make it into a gross out art show instead of informative. Some bodies were flayed out to look like Jurasic Park. The items in the case were the only informative items.
I found it interesting.
I think it is very interesting, I loved it. Yes, I am happened to be very pleased if not slightly disgusted.
Gross, in a good way. But got quite boring. =]It would be more exciting if there were lollipops and balloons and stickers at the end to greet us and brighten up our day.
it was cool
it sucks
never go
it never changes and all you do is look at dead people
byeee
right on
it was teribble and i would never see it again
it was interesting to see the inside of the body and some other parts... but kinda boring. i liked the sports postions
you should tell people it isn't g rated.
I thought the Body exzibt WAS awsome
OMG!
i thought it was good but we should be able to touch the models.
well sir, these 'models' were nont models but acual bodies so tats why
Totally awesome.
i thought the exibits were educational and informative to people who want to be in the field of medical sciences and ect. works in the medical field.
well, it's amazing
they are real people and you cut them up for us to see, gross
They WERE real people and they donated their bodies fro us to see and better understand what our bodies do for us by the minute and we should know that and respect our bodies because of it.
I didn't love it because I thought it dragged on. It showed alot of the same things.
Like the statues of the acrobatics there where three ( two on on platform) one would be enough,
`T.B.
Although it dragged on it was suppose to give you insight on the human body and not take it forgranted. I hope you liked the rest of the museum.
Hi my lovely teenager,
I'm glad you came with. Sorry you did not enjoy it more.
Love,
Mom
It will help people stop smoking. :
i like it.
i did not like it
they are real human bodies torn apart
I completely agree! I could hardly keep from throwing up in there. That was an incredibly sick exhibit.
it was really gross.
wow....
well, its awsome but did you all know that most of the eyes are fake? If you dont beleive me ask a worker there or read the comments!
Grow up.
very interesting very informational got a little boring after the 60th exibit
It was very inappropriate and it got a lot more boring.
It wasn't informational enough and it was disturbing and it got boring after the 999999999999 time.
it was sweet and made me think
It rocked dude! Totally wicked!
To me, it was etremely interesting and i would recomend it to anyone who asks.
hey i was sitting behind this guy when he wrote this comment! totally cool! well, i agree. this exhibit was totally awesome and i also would recomend that people come to it! so worth the wait to get in. the movie was pretty sweet too.
we thought that it was pretty sweet but a little too long
It was OK. But i have seen beter. Also it is to long! Make it shorter. It was fun to see what I look like on the inside! I also liked the Human Body movie!
Body Worlds has some cool parts.
I thought it was scary it looked freaky. I thought it was wierd that people acually donated thier bodies to you guys, I would want my body to rest in peace. Not in peices. It was a little disturbing but crazy cool too.
It was good but after awhile, it got pretty repetative. I started to go through it faster until the end when i didnt really even care.
i'm a kid so i generally get bored at a museum and this one was a great experience for me! i really liked the baby exibet!=]
It was good at first. Then after that it got a little boring but overall it was pretty good. It was very interesting about
