Pipestone Creek in southwest Minnesota carved this waterfall through Sioux quartzite. The rock appears red because it contains small amounts of iron.

It looks like a peoples face.
great water fall
I think it is amazing to see the power of water as it dissolves the surrounding rock. The water used to flow down teh surface and slow carved its way down into the ground. Eventually the waterfall could level the whole structure. I guess thats why they call it the universal solvent!
