the standing wave on a guitar string and the sound wave generated by the guitar as a result of this vibration. What do these two waves have in common?

<em>ARTiFactor</em>'s picture
ARTiFactor says:

Frequency and wavelength? The vibration of the string is transmitted to the guitar body through the bridge (the piece that the string touches). This creates standing waves on the surfaces of the guitar body except now you have two dimensions so the standing wave looks like the patterns seen in the video. Much more air is moved by the guitar body than by the string.
