Good picture, but slightly too dark on the abdomen. That's a gravid female.
HELP! I really need some professional advice. We have cabins on Star Island in Cass Lake MN near Bemidji. My Mom grew up here as a child in the Summers. In the last 5 years she has been bitten by something on the foot always, usually the bottom of the big toe looks like a red dot bite, no circular redness around it, just the bite. Sometimes three bites. Within 15 min she gets dizzy, she feels the reaction coming and her eyes are wide open and she goes into shock. She convulses and unconscious.
This has happened last year and this year. The bites occur on the beach, we have a sandy beach on the lake. The only two options we see are a spider that blends in with the sand and hops on water around an inch in span; or large black flies. We need help identifying what it could be, the spider looks like the one on this thread a little lighter. She was airlifted to the hospital yesterday after this occurred, I administered two epi pens but the reaction was still life threatening.
Here is what I need:
We need an Allergist that specializes in insects in the twin cities.
If anyone can identify spiders or flies that could cause this I would love a picture and the name of the spider.
We know it is anaphylactic of some kind. Please help!
