Epileptic woman's seizures triggered by Sean Paul's music

Epilepsy is one of those diseases that is so poorly understood that I am not surprised when I hear interesting triggers for dangerous seizures. However I was a little taken aback by this woman's story. She was able to help doctors determine the cause of her seizures when she noticed that she could trigger them when she heard the song "Temperature" by Reggaeton/Hip Hop artist Sean Paul. Using this information doctors were able to preform a series of surgeries and she hasn't has a seizure since.

W Thompson says:

It has been said that Dianne Neale also suffered the same seizure-fate whenever she heard Mary Hart's voice. This was parodied on Seinfeld with Kramer being the victim.

"In 1991, Dianne Neale was written up in the New England Journal of Medicine for experiencing epileptic seizures while watching Entertainment Tonight. Seemingly, the problem was caused by the voice of co-host Mary Hart. At the time, Neale’s doctor prescribed anticonvulsant drugs and sternly told her not to watch the show." -NY Times

That a little ODD, well she probably don't understand anything sean paul is saying, WHO DOES?, so her seizure was probably triggered by his JiBbErIsH! Im sorry to hear that though.

she shouldn't have been listening to that song to begin with. Listen to other songs that wouldn't trigger the seizures.

But here's an interesting point, by listening to that song (and if she liked it, she should be able to listen to - there is no accounting for taste), she was able to discover that it was a trigger. By bringing that all to the doctors, they were able to test, perform surgery, and, hopefully, learn more about the disorder.

I thought seizures could only be caused by flashing lights or if there was something medically wrong with your brain? Either way, just dont listen to sean paul if you get seizures.

It really has nothing to do with Sean Paul. He aint tell her "Aye, you gotta listen to this". Even though you prolly wouldn't understand wtf he's sayin. She chose to listen to music period. It couldn't been Beethoven Sympony. Would they be makin a big deal then? Hell, it coulda been Britney Spears. Everyday ppl have these things, so why is her story so special?
