Tornado damage: Garage doors may be a key to how severely a house collapses
by Thor on Jul. 07th, 2008
It's still at the observational stage, but investigators are looking at the link between strength of garage doors and the amount of damage a home incurs from a passing tornado. After reading this Star-Tribune story, it sounds like a case of the general public connecting the dots before the scientific community.

Hopefully this research will bring about some new solutions - -but what about parts of the world without garages, cars, and other "first world" amenities?

Hey Molly
I think you may be worried about the wrong things. 8 year olds should be playing outside and coloring outside the lines.
Dear Molly's Parents,
You're turning your daughter into an uptight over-concerned adult-in-a-child's-body. Please stop.

Hey KB:
Do you enjoy calling out 8-year-olds on the Internet in such a tactless way? It seems below what I'd expect from a 25-year-old.
i am very glad to here about that
I hope this information that the Field Museum has given us will inspire scientists to help citizens that live near these natural disasters be safe from any harm!!
!!Thank you again!!
Tornadoes are almost exclusively a weather phenomenon of the Midwest U.S. It would be very unusual for one to happen in the tropical areas that mark Third World countries. But those areas are usually at high risk for hurricane activity.
I think it would be best to be stuck in a tsunami than a tornado.
no tunsnumi kill more people than tornados
not nessarily thimgs of nature are dangerous yes it isa fact u cannot control the outcome but it doesn't make anything more safe than the other so no i do not agree for u are risking the lives of yourself and other civilians..nothing further
I disagree a tornado would be better becuase it might not hit you. But a tsunami flood miles of a city. And it might kill millions.
tornados are cool and hot air chasing each other round and round and they can kill just as much as a Hurricane!!!!!!
