We've turned the corner and are heading for the end of July, but here's a few phenology facts to keep in mind as you amble around the rest of this month.
• Wild raspberries are beginning to ripen.
• Deer flies are in full swing (but they rarely hit home runs!)
• Butterfly weed is blooming and attracting a wide array of butterflies and other insects.
• Songbirds are much quieter than last month, as care of hungry nestlings keeps them busy.
