Another new way to experience natural disasters is via You Tube.

Holy cow: this CNN post says that the earthquake in China affected over half the country's provinces. China is BIG. That's one heck of a quake!

Also according to the article:

" An earthquake with 7.5 magnitude in the northern Chinese city of Tangshan killed 255,000 people in 1976 -- the greatest death toll from an earthquake in the last four centuries and the second greatest in recorded history, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Tangshan is roughly 1,600 km from Chengdu, the nearest major city to the epicenter of Monday's quake."

US intelligence analysts are looking at spy satellite images of the quake area. According to Reuters,

"[A defense department official] said the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, or NGA, was assessing high-altitude imagery as a routine step taken whenever a natural disaster or another major event occurs someplace in the world.

U.S. spy satellites and other high-altitude surveillance platforms can produce highly detailed pictures of damage to roads, railways, tunnels, ports and coastlines."

The misery continues in the Sichuan province of China.

The death toll continues to rise, and authorities are warning that dams and hydropower stations have been damaged and could give way at any time.

There have been survival stories:

"Amid the overwhelming gloom, there were also moments of joy.

In Mianzhu, where thousands have already been confirmed dead, about 500 people were pulled out alive from crushed buildings.

Rescuers in Hanwang, a village in Mianzhu, sustained a girl with food and water as they struggled to free her from the ruins of a school.

A woman eight-months pregnant and her mother, trapped under an apartment building in Dujiangyan, were freed by firefighters.

'We are very happy. We have been standing here shouting for two days,' said Pan Jianjun, a relative. 'But there are still three more people in there making sounds.'"

But the Reuters article goes on to say that one-third of houses have been destroyed, and 90% have been damaged.

It's so sad poor people because they pass to this cathastrophy the number of people die increase day to day and the most incredible is the size of the earthquake cover all China.
