Beyond the Button

A blog about how museums can use technology, media, and the web.
From the webteam at the Science Museum of Minnesota

web 2.0

Is it hype? It doesn't matter I'm ROTFL anyways

Lots of us museum folks are thumping our laptops trying to get the cultural heritage and informal science world into the Web 2.0 technology age. But are we just buffalo rushing towards another cliff--a bubble perchance? I don't really think so but this video pokes fun at the idea and had me rolling on the floor laughing.

I especially lost it when I saw "friendship bracelets + newspapers" as their mock business because there is quite the black market industry in friendship bracelets here at our museum.

IMified

IMified: http://www.imified.com/index.htm

from their website -- "Imified is a productivity tool that offers instant access to a growing number of web applications over your instant messaging client. Imified simply helps you get things done faster."

IMified is a service, a buddy on your instant messenger that is similar to SmarterChild, Santa and other chatbots. It helps you keep all your various todo lists centralized (for example from email, IM, PDA, etc.)

It looks like a lot has happened with their business since last March when I first found them (they launched Feb '07). That's kind of exciting. What's most exciting to me is that they are working out kinks of getting various mobile technologies to talk to one another... towards the sort of seamless integration that will actually make all these little apps way more useful. OMG I can't wait.
