The Science Museum of Minnesota acquired an extensive herbarium collection through donation from Joannes Janssens, Ph.D., one of the world's foremost experts in bryology (the branch of botany that focuses on bryophytes, i.e. mosses and liverworts), of Lambda-Max Ecological Research.
The Janssens bryophyte collection, one of the best-curated and -documented collections of its kind in the world, will eventually entail over 40,000 specimens, which are all catalogued in a database and further documented with technical drawings, watercolor illustrations, publications, and reprints.
